Menus…

Literally the most consistent I’ve been as an adult, in all my 41 years.

I’ve been doing a weekly menu since this last summer, mostly because I have a bunch of Neuro spicy children, who seem to be less annoying if they know what the food plan is all week…Who knew?

This week is honestly one of the easiest, we had a few things already planned so only a few nights of cooking. And I didn’t attempt any crazy new recipes this week. I do try to pick food that I know mostly everyone is going to eat, we usually have a date night/take out night every week, and then I’ll slip in something new that doesn’t sound too adventurous. I’ve found that Gen Z children are connoisseurs of comfort and bread only, but only the CORRECT comfort…it would seem. 😒

This week:

Sunday ~ Chili and Cinnamon rolls- I think this is a very odd combo, my children are obsessed with it. It’s something they picked up at the schools in Missouri, not sure if this is a uniquely yehaw-midwest thing or what but they eat it so whatevs. The Boyfriend is from Texas so he makes the chili, which is bean free and I think that’s beyond odd…apparently Texans are anti beans.

Monday ~ Crunchy Chicken and Rice- This is the THE most amazing recipe I found (I’ll post the link!) for Honey Sesame Chicken, it’s a double fry method so it’s a little time consuming but completely worth it. I cheat and use a premade batter, but the rest follows the recipe except for a few changes that just work better for us. I make this at LEAST once a week, everyone loves it, and even if they’re not in the mood for the Asian style sauce it works as fried nuggies… (Gen Z kryptonite)

Tuesday ~ Hawaiian French Toast – We have some sort of breakfast every week, it’s simple and usually quick. This is a new recipe, but it’s just French toast made out of Hawaiian rolls so I feel like it’s screw up proof.

Wednesday ~ Grilled Sammies and Soup – Not gonna lie…I felt incredibly lazy, especially already having two days off from cooking lol. The plan is to make Bougie-Esque grilled cheeses (smancy cheeses, meats and breads), and then I bought some premade Panera soup…. It’s cold here and melted cheese tends to always be a fan favorite.

Thursday and Friday ~ We have a Bougie social night on Thursday with “heavy appetizers” …I’m new to the bougie life, so I’m not sure what will be involved but I’m always a fancy of fancy tiny foods. 🤷‍♀️️

We’re trying a new Pizza place on Friday, for the whole family. We have an out-of-town appointment for one kid, and another child getting 4 wisdom teeth out SO we’re phoning in all the extra things.

Saturday ~ Hamburgers and Fries – This is another regular meal for us. Its not fancy or expensive, everyone eats it and I rarely have to deal with dishes or leftovers so a win.

….Sharing this is new for me, so I’m not sure what the capacity this will be. I plan on sharing the Crunchy chicken from tonight, the recipe and link to the original post.

Please be patient, I’m a hotmess mom and I’m trying to keep myself occupied during the impending apocalypse. 🤷‍♀️
